Medical marijuana could be a reality for Texas

As explained in this article, a medical marijuana bill has been filed in the Texas House of Representatives. Here is the full text of the bill.

How to help this bill pass (courtesy of Texas NORML):

On February 12, 2009, HB 164 was officially assigned to the Public Health Committee in the Texas House of Representatives. The most exciting part of this committee assignment is that the bill’s author, Rep. Elliott Naishtat (Austin), has been assigned to be Vice Chair of the committee! Also, HB 164 has picked up a co-author, Rep. Lon Burnam (Ft. Worth). If you, or someone you know, uses marijuana for a serious medical condition, and are willing to submit testimony to the Public Health Committee, please contact us as soon as possible (josh@texasnorml.org, 512-585-3846) so that we can coordinate an effective lobbying effort for HB 164.
Who to contact:
House Committee on Public Health - Phone: (512) 463-0806
Contact your representatives and tell them to support this bill. To find out who your State Representatives and Senators are, go here. Enter your address in the “Who Represents Me?” box at the bottom right side of the page.

High Satisfaction: Munchies Gone Overboard

If you’re like me, you have probably already decided that the above image represents food in its most highly developed form. If Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs can be applied to our kitchen creations—and I firmly believe it can—then this dish represents what is produced after we have moved beyond mere sustenance, nutrition and other such petty health concerns. Oh, yes. It is exactly this sort of gross excess that High Satisfaction, a stoner website about elaborate munchies, specializes in. The site’s author seems to possess a particular penchant for ice cream and chocolate, two things that nearly every stoner capable eating them loves.

If you just want to get high from your food, we’ve got that covered.

A Variation On The Classic ‘Green Dragon’

This article was written for the site by potsmoker and culinary artist Sassy Not Classy.
Have you ever wanted to get drunk AND high, without having to put down your beer to smoke a bowl? Well I have the perfect solution for you. Make some weedohol!

Ingredients:

  • Any kind of alcohol, 40% or higher
  • Tasty weed

I used half a 26oz of Bacardi white rum and 1/4oz of sticky icky delicious tasting weed. All you do is bust up the weed a bit and shove it into the bottle and shake it up. I left it in the cupboard for about a month, shaking every week or so.

Trip Report: Shrooms On A Saturday Night

This is the story of an adventure undertaken by your dear author.

At 5:40 PM, I ingested 2.9 grams of slightly damp psilocybin mushrooms at a friend’s residence. Shortly after consuming the magical fungus, my friends and I made our leave and walked back to my own residence at a brisk pace. The air was not warm, and this coupled with my fast walking caused me not to feel the initial come-up. After a quarter-hour of travel we arrive at our destination and I am coming up hard. I sit down at my computer and initiate play of the song Sheep by Pink Floyd. I’m tripping hard at this point, and some serious visuals are manifesting in front of my open eyes. Cannabis Use And IQ

Does using cannabis affect your IQ? According to this peer-reviewed study, yes—however, the change is marginal and the direction may surprise you. In any case, cannabis use does not have a permanent effect on IQ and a couple months of abstinence should return even the heaviest of smokers to full cognitive function.
